Jacayla Dixon, a rising high school sophomore, is a member of Servant Leaders Institute's inaugural youth cohort and mentorship initiative. Take a moment to learn more about Jacayla as a person and her experience in the cohort.
"Sports, dancing, and drawing are some of my favorite activities. Specifically, I had a wonderful time playing softball this school year. I learned and improved as a player and team mate.
We explored various societal issues as a cohort. They include the following:
Knowing your rights-understanding what you can and can’t do is important to you so you can protect yourself from misinformation and
Black History- everything from there has created empowerment not just for blacks but other ethnicities
Leading the way in the right direction, speaking up for what is right, and protecting yourself and those who cannot protect themselves are characteristics a servant leader should have. Servant leadership is important, because it calls upon you to serve with purpose and stand up for your beliefs.
My favorite quote is 'You can do anything you put your mind to.'"
Jacayla is the proud daughter of Ms. Shaundra Dixon.
