Kenley Cropper, a high school freshman, is a member of Servant Leaders Institute's inaugural youth cohort and mentorship initiative. Take a moment to learn more about Kenley as a person and her experience in the cohort.

"I love braiding hair in my free time. I enjoy making others feel beautiful each time someone trusts me to braid their hair. There is so much more to me. I also play basketball and volleyball and am ready to do both this school year.

I enjoyed this cohort, because we were supported as leaders. We were allowed to explore the impact of policy on our educational experience. School discipline policies are important to me, because students are often punished for minor behaviors that are common among students my age. I hope to bring attention to this issue and remind everyone the importance of knowing school policy.

I believe helping others makes someone a true servant leader. It is important for us to work together and help each other make a positive difference. That's what comes to mind, when I think of a servant leader.

A piece of advice I always keep in mind, comes from my mother. She always tells me, 'Believe in yourself.' That keeps me motivated. I am going to continue doing just that."

Kenley is the proud daughter of Ms. Michele Bouldin and Mr. Kenyatta Cropper.
